MATA SUNDRI COLLEGE FOR WOMEN  is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. It was established by Delhi Sikhs Gurudwara Management committee in the year 1967.The college is named after Mata Sundri ji, the consort of tenth Guru, Gobind Singh Ji.

The college made a modest beginning in 1967 with only 415 students and 14 staff members. Now it has come up as a leading institutions of Delhi University. At present there are 174 teachers, 53 members of administrative staff and 2996 students. Over the years college has shown excellent academic results. The new wing of the college building was inaugurated on 12 March,2004 by Sardar Prehlad Singh Chandok, President, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee. It houses the Principal and Vice Principal's offices and the administrative offices. The college library has been shifted to its basement and is centrally air-conditioned.

It was established to propagate the great Mother's cherished ideals of service, leadership and academic pursuits among young women with the motto  "Truth is the highest virtues but true living is higher still". Over all these years, we have been trying our utmost to keep the ideals set up by Mata Sundri Ji. Our college has not only made a mark in the academic field but is also known for developing students to be good citizens with high social and ethical values.

Apart from providing higher education in the traditional fields of Arts & Commerce, The college is striving to become a centre for the promotion of Punjabi Language and Culture.

The location of the college , bridging Old and New Delhi, in a sense symbolizes our effort at creating a complete woman, who while keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field of knowledge retains a strong link with her cultural roots.

At Mata Sundri College we provide all students the opportunity to develop to their full potential , encouraging them to tap the hidden talent lying within each of us.

Genius being 90% perspiration , the students at Mata Sundri College are made to work hard and no concessions are given and none should be expected. Attendance in classes and tutorials is in strict accordance with the rules of the University and shortage therein is not condoned. Similarly, the house examination, which in a sense is a full dress rehearsal of final Exams, is taken seriously by the teaching staff, who expect the student to do the same. Internal Assessment, which accounts for 25% of the final marks, provides the students with the opportunity to enhance the final score and thereby improve the division. The year long assessment also gives both the teacher and the taught an idea of the shortcomings in the answers and provides enough time and opportunity to try and overcome them for a better performance. We strive to improve upon academic performance each year and the improvement continues apace, as a look at the results would show.

As citizens of the world largest democracy the students are prepared for their onerous future responsibility by providing them the platform of a student council of their own, whereby they get to know their problems and find ways and means through which they can be solved.

The college lies in the heart of Delhi, with the Rajiv Chowk and Barakhamba Road metro stations falling within a radius of 1Km. The Tilak Bridge and Shivaji Bridge railway stations are also at a walking distance from college
