The education department of the college was established in 1967. The department is engaged in teaching education papers to B.A. program courses. The subject papers bring together History, Psychology, Human Development, Sociology, Public policy, Political Science and Public Administration, Educational and Pedagogy Theory in the six papers. Students are able to develop true inter-disciplinary education as they are equipped to deal with themes from various disciplinary backgrounds in each semester.

The wide variety of pedagogic methods deployed enables students to understand both sources as well as methods to analyse them. Methods like project learning, surveys, book reviews, presentations enables to pursue any further education course with greater ease. Variety of academic enrichment activities are organised at the department for students including film screenings, talks and excursions. A lecture demonstration screening seminar on ‘Language of Cinema’ by a renowned documentary film maker, Mr. Sanjay Joshi, was organised during last year for the students. Also, a talk on “Perspectives on Citizenship and Democracy” by Dr. Manish Jain (Ambedkar University) was organised last year.

Attendance Rules

The students are required to attend not less than 67% of the lectures, theory and practicum courses, separately during each semester in order to enable them to appear for university examinations.

Assessment Scheme

The assessing procedures usually include written assignments, projects, house exam and presentations. Final examinations are held in the month of November and May.
