Cultural Society


Mata Sundri college has a vibrant cultural life. The College has a Cultural Society which promotes a variety of western, folk and classical dances. It is indeed one of the most active societies of the college. It organizes and encourages students to participate in various cultural competitions held by different educational institutions. It helps the students to discover, develop and promote their talents by providing them with opportunities to perform on stage.

The Western Dance team “KAYRA” and the Folk Dance team “VIRSA” are known for their scintillating performances. Team members practice hard for long hours, which is visible when they outperform their competitors in various events.

The Cultural society hosts Thirak- the Classical, Folk and Western dance competitions during college fest SAARANG every year. To encourage diverse talents of students two new teams - Bhangra and Music Team were formed. The students participated in many competitions and won prizes during last year.

‘Virsa’ the Giddha team with a wonderful combination of elegance and energy performed the traditional form of Giddha. They won prizes in different colleges festivals. At PGDAV College they won 3rd Prize, at Dyal Singh college- 2nd Prize, at Shyama Parsad Mukherjee College- 3rd Prize, at Rajdhani College- 3rd prize, at Deshbandhu College- 3rd Prize, at GTB College- 3rd Prize and at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce- 3rd Prize. Navneet Kaur was judged the best dancer. The Virsa team also gave a scintillating performance at Siri Fort Auditorium on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the college.

‘Kayra’ the western dance team participated in many inter-college competitions. At Zakir Hussain College they won 1st Prize, at Ramjas College (Maths Department)- 2nd Prize, at Satyawati College- 2nd Prize, at Rukmani Devi College- 2nd Prize, at NIFT- 1st Prize, at Acharya Narendra Dev College- 2nd prize,and at Ramjas College they won 2nd Prize. Diksha Punyani was judged the best dancer.

The Bhangra Team participated in the popular bhangra competition of India, BHANGRA ARENA 2018. The energy and coordination of their performances won them appreciation from the judges and audience. They won first prize at the folk-dance competition organized by Kiah Events and Man Power. Bhawna Salaria has been judged the best bhangra girl.
