Department of Sanskrit

Overview

The Sanskrit Department has completed 52 years of establishment to promote Sanskrit language in the college successfully. The main objective of Sanskrit Department is to teach ancient Indian Culture, knowledge and scientific heritage till the modern era to develop students to be good citizens with high social and ethical values and to encourage students for persuing further studies and research in Sanskrit.

Teachers in the Department use innovative teaching methods like teaching through power point presentations, interactive discussions in the classrooms etc. Department has an active “Gyyan Vardhini Sabha” that organizes various cocurricular activities like Educational Trips, Shlokantakshri, Sanskrit Shlokavritti, Sanskrit Chitrakarma, Sanskrit prashanmanch, Sanskrit play, Alumni Meet from time to time.

The Department also organizes Career counseling sessions for shaping a well rounded and holistic personality. Dr. Pankaj Kumar Mishra from St.Stephen's College was invited to make the students aware of the opportunities for employment and careers in various fields of life.

Attendance Rules

The students are required to attend not less than 68% of the lectures during each semester in order to enable them to appear for university examinations.

Assessment Scheme

A continuous process of internal assessment takes place during each semester. The assessing procedures usually include written assignments, projects, house exam and presentations. Final examinations are held in the month of November and May.

It is mandatory for a student to secure minimum 40% marks in each theory paper during final examinations, 40% in the internal assessment for each semester, to pass the examination.
